Becoming a 2024 Data Pioneer in Water Utilities: A Gateway to Innovation and Progress

In the realm of water and sanitation utilities, the journey towards progress is paved with data. The 2024 Data Pioneers in Water Utilities - Learning at Toronto Edition, an Initiative from New International Benchmarking Network (NewIBNET) and the International Water Association (IWA), is calling upon utilities to submit their data on performance and management practices. This initiative not only offers a chance to enhance management practices but also provides a pathway to attending the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Toronto from August 11th to 15th.

But what does it truly mean to be a 2024 Data Pioneer?

Working with data and making evidence-based decisions is paramount for water and sanitation utilities globally. In an era marked by increasing demands on water resources and infrastructure, the ability to analyze data effectively can mean the difference between efficient operations and costly inefficiencies. By harnessing the information provided by well-visualized data, utilities can gain valuable insights into their performance, identify areas for improvement, and ultimately enhance service delivery to communities. Moreover, in an industry where resources are often limited, data-driven decision-making enables utilities to allocate resources more effectively, ensuring optimal outcomes for both customers and the environment.

So, what does it take to become a 2024 Data Pioneer?

It begins with a commitment to transparency and continuous improvement. Utilities and associations are invited to submit their 2023(*) data on performance and management practices to NewIBNET by June 7th, 2024. Whether you're already a member of NewIBNET or a newcomer to the platform, all are eligible to participate. By sharing your data, you not only contribute to a global benchmarking initiative but also position yourself for the opportunity to attend the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Toronto. Additionally, associations that successfully mobilize their members to submit data may also be eligible for sponsorship.

In essence, becoming a 2024 Data Pioneer is about the commitment to data-based decision-making and collaboration. It's about recognizing the advantages of working with data and seizing the opportunity to drive positive change within your organization while giving back to the water community globally. So, join us, and together, let's pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient future for water and sanitation utilities worldwide.
